Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about IPL Spot Treatment.

Most clients need one to four sessions depending on spot size, depth, and skin type. Treatments are typically spaced four to six weeks apart to allow healing and assessment; your provider will recommend a personalized plan.

Sensation is usually described as a quick snapping or warm prickling feeling. Most patients tolerate treatments well; topical numbing or cooling devices are available to increase comfort during the procedure.

IPL Spot Treatment addresses sunspots, age spots, isolated hyperpigmentation, visible broken capillaries, and localized redness. It is effective for focal lesions; deeper or hormonal pigmentation like melasma may require alternative or combination therapies.

Safety depends on skin tone and medical history. IPL is safest for lighter skin types; darker complexions may face higher pigment-change risks. We evaluate Fitzpatrick type and recommend appropriate lasers or settings to minimize complications.

Initial improvement is often visible within one to three weeks as treated spots darken and flake away. Optimal results usually appear after multiple sessions, with continued improvement over several months from gradual pigment clearance.

Contraindications include pregnancy, active tanning, recent isotretinoin use, open wounds, or active skin infections. Inform us of medications and skin history during consultation so we can determine candidacy and any necessary pre-treatment precautions.
